The day you get saved and the day that Jesus is revealed to you are two different moments in your life.
Let’s take a look at this very powerful moment between Jesus and the disciples.
[13] Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” [14] And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” [15] He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” [16] Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” [17] And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. | Matthew 16:13-17
The Breakdown
Peter and the disciples had been walking with Jesus, learning, and growing with Him for quite some time at this point. It was not until they KNEW who Jesus was for themselves that their lives actually began to change.
They told Jesus who people said that Jesus is … but this is why Jesus corrected them and said — “But who do YOU say that I am?”
Peter said “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.”
Jesus then told Him that he was blessed because flesh and blood did not reveal that to Him but His Father [God] who is in Heaven.
We can go to church all of our lives.
We can even read and study our Bibles.
We can believe in Jesus.
We can also be doing all the right things according to scripture.
But it’s not until He has been revealed to our hears personally do we actually began to be transformed and bear fruit.
When Jesus has been revealed to you personally you go from reading about having the mind of Christ to actually speaking like Him.
When Jesus has been revealed to you personally you go from reading about Him being wounded for your transgressions to living in freedom from bondage and under the mercy of God.
When Jesus has been revealed to you personally you go from I just love Jesus to I can’t live without Him.
Each of us are marked by the magnitude, pursuit, and weight of His presence in our lives.
May we have the desire to live in the revelation of who Jesus is and overflow with that in This Hour. In Jesus name. Amen.
