The God of The Secret Place
God is The God who lives in The Secret Place. This truth, though often mentioned in sermons and prayer meetings is foundational to our faith.
“The Secret Place” isn’t just a phrase or a symbolic term—it’s the reality of God’s nature. He is the God who speaks and moves in secret, the One who hides us in His presence for protection and preparation.
God Chooses the Secret Place to Reveal His Plans
When God called Abraham, He didn’t do it publicly or through a messenger. Instead, He waited for the right moment—after Terah, Abraham’s father, had passed. Only then did He speak directly to Abraham, in secret, to reveal the destiny, plan, and purpose He had for him.
In that moment, God gave Abraham specific instructions and even a new name. Think about that: God didn’t need an audience or intermediaries. It was a one-on-one conversation that shaped the course of history.
For years, you’ve been taught that your identity and purpose will be discovered through hearing a word from another person—be it a pastor, prophet, or teacher. But that’s a lie.
The first conversation God ever had with man about his purpose was held directly between Him and the man He created. There was no one else present—just God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Confirms the God of the Secret Place as Your Father
Jesus Himself reinforces this truth in Matthew 6:6, saying:
“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”
This isn’t a suggestion—it’s an invitation to commune with the Father in the intimacy of the Secret Place. It’s here, behind closed doors, away from the noise and distractions of life, that God speaks to the deepest parts of your heart.
It’s here that your identity, your purpose, and the answers to your prayers are revealed.
David Understood the Power of the Secret Place
David, also clearly understood that God holds secrets. In Psalm 31:19-20, he writes:
“Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind! In the cover of your presence you hide them from the plots of men; you store them in your shelter from the strife of tongues.”
David paints a picture of God’s abundant goodness, stored up and hidden for those who take refuge in Him. In the Secret Place, God hides us from the schemes of the enemy and the strife of the world.
The Secret Place in Action
Throughout Scripture, we also see God working in secret to protect His people and fulfill His plans:
• Jesus’ Birth: The Savior of the world was born in secret, hidden away in a stable, far from the reach of those who sought to harm Him.
• Moses’ Preservation: As a baby, Moses was placed in a basket and hidden among the reeds to escape Pharaoh’s decree. This secret act saved his life and positioned him to deliver God’s people.
• Abraham’s Call: God chose to wait until Terah had died to reveal His plans to Abraham, speaking to him in the privacy of the Secret Place.
• Esther’s Identity: Esther’s Jewish heritage remained hidden until the appointed time when God used her to deliver His people.
In each of these examples, God moved in secrecy— that was and still is His strategy. He shielded His plans and His people until the appointed time of revelation.
Your Purpose Is Found in the Secret Place
For too long, we’ve relied on others to tell us who we are and what God’s plans are for us. But the truth is, the only way to discover your true identity and purpose is by spending time with God in the Secret Place.
God is waiting to meet you there. He wants to speak directly to your heart, to give you clarity and direction, and to reveal the secrets He has stored up for you.
So, close the door. Step away from the distractions. Seek Him in the Secret Place.
Because the God who speaks and moves in secret is ready to reward you openly.
And as you seek Him there — allow Him to cut off whatever needs to die before 2025.
If God wanted everybody to know — it wouldn’t be a secret.
